Cyan Racing’s wild Volvo P1800 restomod headed for production

My Blog
[ad_1] Swedish racing team Cyan Racing, the team that previously operated as Polestar until Volvo took over the name, will soon start accepting orders for its wild P1800 restomod first shown in 2020. The car isn't cheap, though. Motor1 has learned that pricing starts at $700,000 and that Cyan Racing will start accepting orders following a showing at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on August 9. The price is steep but the modifications are extensive. Starting with a donor P1800, the body is rebuilt using modern materials to improve stiffness. We're not just talking replacing panels here but increasing the width as well as repositioning the greenhouse. The changes allowed Cyan Racing to install a modern suspension system as well as 18-inch wheels, in this case a set of center-lock…

Ford patents ability to remotely rev engine

Ford patents ability to remotely rev engine

My Blog
[ad_1] Ford has filed a patent application for a system to remotely rev engines. Remote engine start has been around for awhile, but a patent application published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on May 5 describes revving the engine beyond idle speeds while stationary. This would be controlled by a device such as a smartphone, according to the application. The purpose of this is to make noise. A major part of the appeal of performance cars is their engine note, Ford noted in the application. Being able to rev the engine on command allows owners to enjoy the roar of a V-8 (Ford did use a Mustang to illustrate the concept, after all) even more. So it's essentially the opposite of the current Mustang's quiet exhaust…

Lincoln Star Concept plots a new course for Lincoln’s electrified ambitions

Lincoln Star Concept plots a new course for Lincoln’s electrified ambitions

My Blog
[ad_1] Lincoln is celebrating its centennial this year, but it doesn’t mark the company’s founding. Lincoln was established in 1917, but acquired by Ford in 1922 and that is the anniversary the automaker is choosing to honor. As a part of the ceremonies, Lincoln isn’t just looking back but providing a peek into its future with the Star concept, an electric SUV that it says will be the basis for its electrified lineup going forward. Lincoln’s EV plans have gone through several twists and turns. At one point, the plan was for Lincoln to develop an SUV based on the Rivian platform, then there were plans for a different SUV based on the existing Ford Mustang Mach-E platform. However, what underpins the Star concept is something entirely different from either…

BMW reveals its secret E46 M3 Touring prototype

My Blog
[ad_1] BMW is almost ready to reveal a new M3 Touring based on the latest G80 M3 generation, but it won't actually be the first M3 to receive the longroof treatment. Just over two decades ago, BMW developed a prototype M3 Touring based on the E46 M3 generation on sale at the time. The production green light was never given but BMW decided to hold on to the original prototype. The car is featured in the video above, along with some of the engineers who helped develop it. The car looks absolutely stunning in the shade of silver BMW selected for it, and the M3 bulges don't look at all out of place on the practical wagon body. We'll remind you that the E46 M3 ran from 2000 to 2006.…

2023 Kia Telluride, 2022 Ford Bronco, 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S: The Week In Reverse

My Blog
[ad_1] We spotted the 2023 Kia Telluride, the 2022 Ford Bronco's nearly sold out and has gained a new option, and we drove the 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S. It's the Week in Reverse, right here at Motor Authority. The 2023 Kia Telluride was spotted undergoing cold weather testing on public roads. The three-row crossover SUV that punches above its price tag is set to receive a mild refresh with new front and rear end designs, updated LED lighting elements, and likely some tweaks inside the cabin. Don't expect a larger touchscreen as the 10.3-inch unit was just made standard for 2022. Ford revealed the new Ranger Raptor, and this time the smaller off-road pickup truck will come to the U.S. market. Much of the truck's hardware will be shared,…

805-hp DS E-Tense prototype previews French brand’s electric performance ambitions

My Blog
[ad_1] Stellantis premium brand DS has shown it can build vehicles capable of competing with German offerings, at least when it comes to appearance and technology. Now the French marque wants to take on its rivals in the electric performance arena. DS on Monday presented the E-Tense Performance prototype, which it described as a rolling laboratory for electric performance technology. The prototype is an evolution of the E-Tense electric sports car concept unveiled at the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show. The styling and technology have, naturally, evolved since then, with power doubling to 805 hp, made possible by a dual-motor powertrain developed using lessons learned from DS's successful Formula E program. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXqdvQN13_I[/embed] What's also impressive is the powertrain's ability to regenerate up to 805 hp under braking. The system makes…

Cadillac to reveal Escalade-V on Jan. 21

My Blog
[ad_1] Cadillac teased that something exciting is coming on Jan. 21 on social media today. That something exciting is a high-performance version of the Escalade SUV, possibly called Escalade-V. The teaser includes a shot of the headlights of the four current Cadillacs with the brighter lights of a large SUV in the middle. The cars flanking the SUV are likely the V and V Blackwing versions of the CT4 and CT5 sedans, and the biggie is clearly the Escalade. Along with the photo, Cadillac shared a short video that features the sound of the new performance model's engine raging through the gears. It's clearly a V-8, it's clearly powerful, and the sound warms our hearts. The video ends with the brand's V logo. Cadillac hasn't shared what the engine will…

Meet the man who drives every new Bugatti

My Blog
[ad_1] Steve Jenny has an enviable job. As a Bugatti test driver, he inspects every new car before it's delivered to a customer. Bugatti recently explained how Jenny got that sweet gig, and what his typical day entails. Jenny joined Bugatti in 2004, and since then he's driven 90% of all Bugatti vehicles sold, covering more than 217,000 miles in the Veyron, Chiron, and Divo, the company reckons. Raised in Alsace, France, Jenny started out as a rally driver and co-driver, and then became a mechanic and quality inspector, working for automotive suppliers Mahle and BBS. Situated near Bugatti's Molsheim headquarters, he got a few glimpses of the facility, and of Veyron prototypes out testing, and decided to send in an application. Manthey-Racing reveals first take on the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3

My Blog
[ad_1] The 911 GT3 based on the 992 generation of Porsche's 911 sports car has only been in delivery for a few months but Manthey-Racing already has a comprehensive upgrade package for the track star. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise as Manthey has been a close motorsport partner of Porsche for more than two decades, even serving as Porsche's factory team on occasion, including in the World Endurance Championship. Manthey's first upgrade package for the 992 911 GT3 adds improvements in the areas of aerodynamics, braking, and suspension. Key items include four-way adjustable suspension, uprated brake pads and brake lines, a front lip spoiler, flics, rear diffuser, and carbon-fiber rear wing with end plates. Manthey also offers up its own wheel design which, should the buyer desire,…
